Sickly Baby/Sickly Mom

Ewan has not been the only one suffering. Jen is fighting this cold too and last night really took its toll. She was lucky if she got 3 hours sleep and has paid for it heavily today. She was probably suffering worse than Ewan to tell the truth.

The good news is that Ewan did not have a fever all day, but he did grizzle all day and napped for about 1 hour total between 6 am and 6pm, which in Jen's state was NOT good. Fraser took over when he got home from work and by 8.30pm decided to break out the classic big guns for baby sleep inducement. This is the first time Ewan has been so unconsolable that we have had to resort to this, but Fraser took him in the car for a drive with no apparent destination, while Jen was sent to bed for much needed sleep.

Three times during the drive up and down the 210 freeway he almost went down, but two round trips to Arcadia and back plus some other random surface street driving (about 50 miles driving in total) we were back home and still awake and grumbling. The poor soul's eyes were so red by this point, he's never looked quite so pitiful. Fraser broke out the stroller from the trunk rather than going straight back into the house and spent another 25 minutes doing laps around the block.

When they got back into the house Jen was still awake, being so tired herself she was beyond sleep too. This did however work out for all of us as she could try feeding him again and FINALLY he fell asleep (now about 10.00pm). Fraser lined up some bottles in the fridge and set up camp in the spare bed in Ewan's room and shut the door so that Jen could, with luck, finally get some rest.
